She received her Bachelors in Psychology & English and her Masters in Counseling Psychology both from The University of Denver. Mayde spent a semester of college studying in Bilbao, Spain. During her time in Spain, Mayde became fluent in Spanish and taught English to a small child. Mayde enjoys working with children and writing books. She also enjoys reading, especially about mental health, diversity, and autobiographies. Mayde became a therapist because of her desire to break the stigma of receiving mental health services, especially in Black and Brown communities. She had an interest in the healing process and wanted to spread that knowledge to others who could benefit. In this practice, Mayde wants to model the necessity of mental health whether through therapy, education, community, reiki or yoga. Mayde primarily has a Client-Centered, Polyvagal, or Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) focus. She loves doing play therapy as a Registered Play Therapist. Mayde is offering interventions based in Theraplay® principles. She also loves supporting those healing from racial trauma, and working with those looking to improve self-image. She is a Certified Mindfulness Informed Professional, Yoga Instructor, Zumba instructor, and Level 1 Reiki Practitioner.
